The Kempton rooftop project is a new addition to a mansion block in Highgate, London. The new rooftop extension is formed by an external folded zinc clad element, with a rich timber interior. Flush slot fenestration with clear and translucent glazing allows light to penetrate the space. A new staircase from the existing flat is made from glass and steel, so that it acts as a circulation and light funnel, collecting sunlight and reflecting it down into the centre of the flat. A terrace at the front of the scheme allows wonderful views of London and also affords one to have a connection to the mature tree canopies either side.
The project is currently at a detailed construction stage.
