Meadow bank

Conceptually, the house is envisaged as a series of timber louvred jewel boxes linked by a ribbon of glazing which runs from ground floor and into the roof plane. This separation of the elements with the glazed circulation not only allows for views through the house, but also splits up the forms and so makes the house seem lighter. The volumes are also staggered in plan slightly to further break up the form. In addition, we have located the “new” built volume over and above the existing to the West of the site. This prevents overlooking and daylight issues to the adjoining owner and also allows the house to be screened to the West by trees. This location also offers the best location for privacy from the surrounding houses as it is located furthest away from them.
