This current scheme proposes an active street frontage on either sides, to the North and to the South, the high street and Chapel St, offering a mix of residential and commercial uses. This approach will provide an improvement to the street frontage and articulation along Chapel Street especially.
The long thin nature of the site encourages the use of recessed amenity spaces, screening and roof lights to maximise light and privacy. Each flat has its own entrance and out door private spaces.
The elevation treatment on the High street picks up the key drivers along the street, and utilises a mix of materials, and a play on the traditional shop frontage along the ground floor. The upper floors are set back and cut away to suit the context, daylight and the pitched roof forms of the adjacent buildings.
